Stepping into unfamiliar territory can be daunting, but it can also lead to some of the most rewarding creative experiences. My recent shoot at Murder Mile studio with the captivating model bad.morrigan was exactly that.
Murder Mile Studio, known for its industrial, dungeon, urban vibes with medical room, provided a stark contrast to the subject to what I have shot before: bad.morrigan, clad in a striking red, latex nurse’s outfit. This juxtaposition – the sterile allure of the outfit against the raw, edgy backdrop – was the initial spark of the concept.
However, the shoot took an unexpected turn. My usual style leans towards a more natural, candid aesthetic. But the combination of bad.morrigan’s captivating presence, the reflective red latex, and the industrial environment called for a different approach.
We experimented with bold lighting, playing with harsh shadows and contrasting highlights that danced on the glossy surface of the outfit. The sterile white walls of Murder Mile Studio became a canvas for the stark contrast of the red, creating a sense of graphic minimalism.
The final images are a testament to the power of stepping outside your comfort zone. They’re not what I initially envisioned, but they capture a raw energy and unexpected beauty that wouldn’t have been possible without embracing the unfamiliar. It’s a reminder that sometimes the most captivating art arises from the unexpected collisions of concept, environment, and collaboration.
This shoot at Murder Mile Studio with bad.morrigan has left me eager to explore new visual territories. It’s a testament to the magic that happens when you embrace the unfamiliar and let the creative process unfold organically.
